Ukranian Pysanky Eggs

Page 2

With your egg selected, you're now going to apply a highlight to your egg (Effects > VM Natural > Marble Madness with the following settings).  DON'T DESELECT!!

At this point your egg should look something like this . . .

With your egg selected, add a new raster layer (it doesn't matter if it appears above the Floating Selection layer), and apply a cutout to shade around the egg to give it some depth and make it appear 3D (Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout with the following settings).  KEEP EGG SELECTED!!

Now add yet another new raster layer, and again apply another cutout with the same settings (see screenshot 7 above) but this time change the Vertical and Horiztonal offsets to -3.  DON'T DESELECT YET!!

You're now going to apply a prospective drop shadow to your egg (Effects > Eye Candy 3.0 > Prospective Shadow with the following settings).

Now your egg should look something like this . . .

Ok . . . we're almost finished . . . :o)  All that's left now is to resize your image (I resized it to 50% of the original size), sharpen your image once (Effects > Sharpen > Sharpen), and add a nice corrdinating background image/effect.

Voilą . . . Your Pysanky Egg is finished . . . Just in time for Easter!!

If you're interested in more designs, you can check out Ann Morash's site where she actually has instructions on how to paint real Pysanky eggs.

Or, you can try one of my other two designs.  Pysanky 2 is a rather easy design, but Pysanky 3 is very detailed, and you'll need a lot of patience . . . :o)  Just right-click the appropriate image and Save As to download a zip file containing the selections and readme file with the filter settings for each.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and that you'll check back again soon as I hope, in the near future, to add more selections for download to make more designs for my Pysanky Eggs.
